Build on your Matwork foundation and develop the specialist skills to teach on the Reformer — the fastest-growing piece of equipment in the Pilates industry and the qualification that opens doors to premium studios and higher-earning clients.
Ofqual Regulated • Awarded by Focus Awards • CIMSPA Enhancing Provider

The Level 3 Diploma in Planning and Delivering Reformer Pilates Sessions is the qualification for Matwork-certified instructors who are ready to step onto the Reformer — and into the fastest-growing segment of the Pilates industry.
Reformer Pilates has seen explosive growth across the UK. Studios are opening faster than qualified instructors can fill them, and clients are increasingly seeking Reformer-specific sessions for rehabilitation, performance and body conditioning. For qualified instructors, this is where the opportunity is.
Delivered across 4 face-to-face practical training days — supported by self-led study using the resources we provide — this course builds on your existing Pilates knowledge and develops the specialist skills, confidence and technical understanding needed to teach Reformer sessions to a wide range of clients.

Motion Fitness Education is a CIMSPA Enhancing Status Education Partner — one of a select group of UK training providers independently recognised by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity for delivering education that genuinely raises the standard of the sector.
The Level 3 Reformer Pilates Diploma is awarded by Focus Awards and regulated by Ofqual — the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation — ensuring your qualification meets rigorous national standards for quality and credibility.
When you study with MFE, you're studying with a provider the industry has already verified. That matters to the studios, employers and clients you'll work with.

Building on your Matwork qualification, this course develops your knowledge of the Reformer as a teaching tool — from understanding the equipment to delivering safe, progressive and client-appropriate sessions with confidence.
You'll learn how to:
Understand the Reformer — its components, spring system, adjustments and safe setup — so your teaching is always technically grounded
Teach a full range of Reformer exercises and progressions across varied client populations and ability levels
Develop the cueing, observation and correction skills specific to Reformer instruction — distinct in important ways from Matwork teaching
Screen and adapt sessions for clients with different goals, abilities and physical considerations
Plan structured programmes and apply professional practice, health, safety and equipment standards throughout every session
Assessment is designed to confirm you can plan and deliver safe, professional and technically competent Reformer Pilates sessions:
Theory Assessments — Multiple Choice Exams testing your understanding of the Reformer, exercise selection, programme design, adapting sessions for diverse populations and client safety
Programme Design — Demonstrating your ability to plan progressive, client-appropriate Reformer sessions for a range of profiles
Practical Teaching Assessment — Observed Reformer session delivery (1-2-1 nd Group) assessed by your tutor against professional teaching standards
Your tutor will support you throughout — giving you feedback at every stage to ensure you're developing the technical accuracy and teaching confidence the Reformer demands.

The Level 3 Reformer Pilates course is designed for qualified Matwork instructors who are ready to expand their skills and take advantage of the growing demand for Reformer-trained instructors across the UK.

Qualification Number: 610/5883/X
Awarding Organisation: Focus Awards
Regulated by: Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation)
This qualification is recognised across the UK Pilates and fitness industry. Combined with your Level 3 Matwork qualification, it positions you as a fully rounded Pilates instructor — capable of delivering the most in-demand session formats across studios, health clubs, private practice and rehabilitation settings.
The Reformer course is built around in-person training — because teaching on the Reformer is a physical, hands-on skill that can only genuinely be developed in the room. Outside of your training days, you'll work through the course content at your own pace using the resources we provide.

4 Hands-on Practical Training Days
Four face-to-face training days in Glasgow or London, focused entirely on developing your Reformer teaching skills. Because you already hold your Matwork qualification, these sessions can go deep quickly — covering equipment operation, exercise repertoire, cueing and correction, client management and professional teaching standards specific to the Reformer.

Self-Led Study With Provided Resources
Between and beyond your training days, you'll work through the underpinning course content using the resources we provide — covering Reformer anatomy, programme design and professional practice. Self-led and flexible, so it fits around your existing teaching commitments.

Teach From Day One
By the time you complete your practical days and assessments, you'll have the skills, the confidence and the credential to begin teaching Reformer Pilates sessions immediately.
Everything you need to know before you book your place.
Yes — the Level 3 Reformer Pilates Diploma is designed for qualified Matwork instructors and requires a Level 3 Pilates Matwork qualification as an entry requirement. The course builds directly on your existing knowledge of Pilates principles, anatomy and teaching skills — so a solid Matwork foundation is essential before stepping onto the Reformer as a teacher. If you're currently completing your Matwork qualification, speak to our team and we can help you plan your Reformer progression in advance.
Not currently — and that's true across the entire UK Reformer Pilates sector, not just MFE. CIMSPA have not yet established professional standards for Reformer Pilates instruction, which means no Reformer qualification from any UK provider can currently hold CIMSPA endorsement. We understand those standards are in development, though no timeline has been confirmed.
When CIMSPA endorsement becomes available for Reformer, MFE will be pursuing it. In the meantime, the Level 3 Diploma in Planning and Delivering Reformer Pilates Sessions is awarded by Focus Awards, fully regulated by Ofqual, and recognised by professional insurance providers across the UK — so it is a completely valid, insurable qualification that enables you to work professionally from the moment you graduate.
Reformer Pilates has seen significant growth across the UK over the past several years, driven by mainstream consumer interest in low-impact, effective body conditioning. Studios are opening in cities and towns across the country, and demand for qualified Reformer instructors consistently outpaces supply. For qualified instructors, this represents a genuine career opportunity — with strong employment prospects, premium session rates and a client base that is motivated and engaged.
While the foundational Pilates principles remain the same, teaching on the Reformer requires different technical knowledge, cueing skills and observational awareness. The spring resistance system, equipment setup, exercise progressions and the way clients interact with the machine are all distinct from Matwork — which is why a specific qualification is required. This course develops those Reformer-specific teaching skills on top of your existing Matwork foundation.
The course runs across 4 face-to-face practical training days in Glasgow or London, with self-led study using the resources we provide in between. Most learners complete the full qualification within 3-4 weeks alongside their existing teaching commitments.
Practical training days are currently held in Glasgow and London. Register your interest if you'd like to be notified when additional locations become available.
Yes. The Level 3 Reformer Pilates qualification enables you to teach both one-to-one private sessions and small group Reformer classes, subject to your insurance policy. Most professional insurance providers will cover both formats on a single policy once you hold the appropriate qualification. Reformer private sessions are among the most lucrative options available to qualified Pilates instructors.
Reformer-qualified instructors are typically able to charge more than Matwork-only instructors due to the additional specialisation and the premium positioning of Reformer studios (Average £30-£50 per class). Private One-to-One Reformer sessions commonly range from £60 to £100+ per hour, depending on location and experience. Instructors employed in Reformer studios across the UK typically earn more per class than standard group exercise roles, reflecting the specialist nature of the work.
